When I talk about people putting there head in the sand about AI, this is what I'm talking about, pretending like a problem doesn't exist doesn't make it go away

@BrodieOnLinux I don't like it but I'm slowly warming up to it. I've got too many people around me really into it and there's too much money and progress pouring into it to ignore. We should be focusing this hard on climate change... but its just AI.

@BrodieOnLinux Thank you. I agree with some of the takes about AI not being the magic button that will fix everything big tech is pushing, but these models do have uses and will not be going anywhere. People who just dismiss AI as if it's not a real thing will wake up to the facts soon enough.

@ZBennoui Lets just say it has no uses and it'll always be worse, there are companies using it in deployment today so you have to deal with it

@BrodieOnLinux AI is real, just terribly overhyped, overpromised, overused. It has very good use cases, so it's a technology worth developing. But everyone should be way more concious and respectful with the limits of our current AI, imo.

@BrodieOnLinux Exactly. One good thing to note is that this tech is still new, and it takes time for people to really understand where it helps and where it just slows you down, so I think in the next five years or so the talk around AI will be much different.

@BrodieOnLinux I think most of these people are just being abrasively pedantic. They are right that AI doesn't exist, but LLMs, Stable Diffusion and other forms of Machine Learning do. Would be pretty weird to deny existence of those, almost like denying that the Earth is round...

@BrodieOnLinux A lot of this isn't ignorance but tiredness. 90% of the AI talk is about what *might* be and not what's actually happening and what cool features have been implemented with it because those are mostly embarassingly useless. And there is A LOT of AI talk these days.
