@ownlife@mastodon.social I am wary of all Apple TV shows ever since watching some of "For All Mankind" and seeing its dreadful depiction of Liberal Boomer Space Heaven, where the people inhabiting space were the most boring people imaginable atva boring space wedding. Murderbot is not so great so far either, despite the awesome source material.

@ownlife@mastodon.social For All Manknd is fantastic and I'm very fond of Foundation as well, though that's not a cosy show by any measure. Silo was also intruiging mystery-box viewing. Their TV game is surprisingly strong.

@Uraael oh, I really like Silo. yet to checkout For All Mankind. yeah, they greenlight interesting projects, seem to fund them well enough, and don't keep canceling shows after a couple seasons

ooowh i didn't know silo got made into a tv show. i read the book last year. will suspend my disbelief in apple tv long enough to try it out 🙂

I find murderbots "go get 'em" all-american accent very jarring and out of character. For one thing he's basically on the autism spectrum, also accents and language were very different 200 years ago so why would 200 or whatever years in the future have accents like ours? For sure they wouldn't. A gripe I have about many SF shows. The high point of depictions of future langauge was Return of the Jedi where they hired a linguist to invent languages for the aliens etc. Its been all downhill since then and Murderbots' is almost as bad as Jar Jar Binks 😞
