       My mother says that she wants to get a divorce if my father can no longer continue paying the mortgage on our house. Apparently moving to a cheaper place is not an option; we have shown her a variety of places that are within our price / income range, and they always aren't good enough for her.What this potentially means for me is unknown, as I cannot get a job because of my disability, and my disability isn't "bad" enough in the eyes of the SSA to get benefits.

       @itsalrightiguess this is maybe the wrong time for this but your mother is going to destroy your family if everyone lets her.I lived through this 30-something years ago and the reality of the situation has only gotten worse, in the sense of "every household is expected to be dual income" and nobody can afford a dignified quality of life living alone.
