I'm looking for some cool, positive, maybe electronic **instrumental** (no lyrics) music to add to my collection. Music that's expansive, occasionally moody but also sometimes joyful. Bonus points if it's kind of "cyberpunk" and made in the past five years or so. A youTube link is ideal, Spotify isn't something I can use. Other download options could be fine. Feel free to share your own stuff! Or that girl you know's stuff *if* you like it a lot.

@futurebird can I recommend the wonderful album ‘Promises’ by Floating Points (with Pharoah Sanders) It’s a beautiful, meditative album which captures every mood and emotion, often in the simplest wayhttps://youtu.be/FQdLWlvgHOg?si=1XY9RFiFsxO-Lfv0

@futurebird I really like this channel. They have a really wide variety of different channels, some of which get more electronic than others: https://www.youtube.com/@MrEpicOSTs Go to playlists on their channel, but you probably want to start with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5UC64A0BPM&list=PL2kd9j3aTyoReiFuJMmljmj4nDrb3Ez9mThey post a very wide variety of different artists and styles which can really help get one introduced to a lot they have likely never heard of.

@futurebird Aloha!1) My playlist called: "Long Computation":https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlzobF9Rqh6IsW7xz4X09FhORrExUbsY_A Kraftwerk mix made in the last 5 years to start it off, followed by a bunch of good mood music. No lyrics - I find those a distraction on long coding runs.###2) Me, DJ Purrperl :https://soundcloud.com/dj_purrperlSome of my own musical creations, made on a shoe-string budget with minimal equipment and no training. The equivalent of clearing the musical throat.Much more ( and better ) music to come! 🎵

@futurebird i can name a bunch of artists, but there are many places to find their music. Amon Tobin - turntablism with recorded "found sounds"Autechre - a pretty mixed bag of synthBoards of Canada - downtempo beats, voice samples, hauntology, the sounds of 70s and 80s public television, directly inspired by the soundtracks of canada's National Film Board from that eraBrian Eno - some albums are rock, some are ambient, some are a secret third thingSteve Reich - not necessarily electronic but mostly instrumental. drones which create new sounds on their own.

@futurebird A rare instrumental track from ELO in the 1970s.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOCExv3QQP8If you like that one, you might also like Synergy (aka Larry Fast) and Philip Glass, who were both early electronic music pioneers.Vangelis’ soundtrack for the movie “Blade Runner” has some beautiful, atmospheric electronic music. Joyful? Not so sure about that.I also love this instrumental entry from Dire Straits—wait for the payoff…https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CcIAkP7SFyI

A few artists come to mind- Emacipator (album Safe in the Steep Cliffs is a good start)- Silent strike (Instrumentals album 2011)- God is an Astronaut- Parov Stelar (more jazzy & funk, has occasional vocals) - Bonobo (some songs have vocals) I'll see if I can find links and edit the post

@futurebird I looooove the Night Dad EP by (the very excellent) @galaxybrain which is here: https://galaxybrainmusic.bandcamp.com/album/night-dad-ep and I think it pretty much fits the bill, though it's more 'love letter to deep house' than 'cyberpunk'. Probably. Leaves me wanting more every time. Also - great thread, loads to explore here, thank you for instigating it!
