       @finlaydag33k @selea At least the big vendors are closer to 5-7 years of security updates now. Still not great (and still getting all the other undesired updates at the same time), but better than having to trash a perfectly working phone after 2 years.

       @selea Our situation particularly sucks since we've allowed the worst private companies (banks) to be the authority for identification instead of- you know- THE GOVERNMENT! TBF there are other ways of identification for the most important services like taxes but for basically "normal" life a smartphone with proprietary software/firmware is required these days 😥
