This is a dead honeybee. The pollen on her legs is from dandelions. Her tongue is sticking out due to what killed her, which was on the dandelions. 🐝It’s spring, dandelions are the bees' first food. This bee is dead from weed killer spread on what we see as weeds, but what nature sees as food. Please don’t spray for weeds until you see the blackberries blooming. In this area, weeds, flowers, and fruit trees are bees' only source of food until the middle of June. There are FAR more weeds than flowers or fruit trees, so it's their only food source. No bees, no food crops for us, and we all starve.

@AryanSwastika That sucks on more than one level. Dandes are beautiful. Besides being a bee's best friend, their sunny yellow flowers are a cheerful harbinger of spring, every bit of the plant is nutritious and or medicinal, and when they go to seed you can make wishes on them. I always wish for more dandelions!

@AryanSwastika Not only do I not spray anything on my yard I’m proudly the. OST dandelion filled yard in my neighborhood. I used to hate dandelions in my yard until I found out a few years ago that they are the first food for bees. Now I’m glad to help out.

@Vox @AryanSwastika Only down side is if you're on medication which has to remain at consistent levels in the blood stream (eg. blood thinners), because as a diuretic, hepatoprotective, and blood cleanser they are very good at helping the body clear itself of foreign chemicals.

@toiletpaper @AryanSwastika Sure. Nothing with nutritive or therapeutic value is universally tolerated, with the exception of water, I guess. Some people can't digest dairy, some can't tolerate anything glutinous, nuts can kill some people, etc. My son can't eat acidic fruits. Heck, I know one woman who can't be in the sun! So, as with anything, it's important to know your personal limitations.
