       @pettanko it worked, but it was dated. Showtime is amazing in comparison. Does hw decode using dmabuf (tldr zero copy, better for speed and efficiency) and is pretty (rounded corners)

       @RustyCrab @pettanko cuz it uses mpv. In theory Celluloid (formerly gnome-mpv) should work the same way, but libmpv can't into fractional scaling the right way on linux, so I use and prefer Showtime.

       @mischievoustomato @pettanko that's odd because mpv had historically had issues with subtitles and audio sync that smplayer doesn't. Maybe a sane defaults issue.

       @gray gnome devs are anal about following their vision and allan day does great stuff as designer and the results show themselves. I wish gnome had more eye candy but it looks just right.
