Modern discussion conflates jewish and hebrew.Deliberately."Jewish" means alternately, descended from Judah son of Jacob or a resident of the province of Judea.Jesus was from Nazareth, which was in Galilee, as was Simon Peter.Jesus was hebrew. He was not a jew.

More interesting.In AD70, Rome destroyed Judea, killed off all the jews they could find, sold more into slavery, and razed the temple in Jerusalem.A few of the Sanhedrin escaped to modern Iraq and wrote a new book.A few others continued to live underground in the newly formed and named Roman province of Syria Palaestina, mostly around the ruins of Jerusalem. They also wrote a new book.These two books were eventually combined into the modern Talmud.Modern talmudic jewery is entirely descended from the exiled Sanhedrin, the synagogue of Satan that Jesus preached about.

When the Sanhedrin decided that Jesus must go, the knew they were prohibited from executing Him themselves.So they took him to the Roman Prelate of Judea, one Pontius Pilate.Pilate could not find any Roman law that condemned Jesus, but in the interest of keeping the peace with the jewish religious leaders, he allowed the local population to vote on it. He then both physically and ritually washed his hands of it. The local jews voted to kill Jesus.But wait, there's more.After the crucifixion of Jesus the jews revolted again and Pilate was fired as Prelate.He was recalled to Rome.He moved to Helvetica, modern-day Switzerland, where he converted to Christianity and preached the Gospel until he was martyred.There is a Mt. Pilate in Switzerland where legend says he died.There's no proof that the he died there, but the mountain is there and bears his name.
