Oh fuck, I received the macbook pro for work. It has ridiculously bad specs. But at least they sent me the 14''. I was scared shitless if they were gonna send a big one.But it only has 16GB. This is sad, I don't think I can program in scala with this 😂 :KEKW:

No idea what a magsafe port is or what a usb-c to magsafe cable is, but it has usb-c 4 ports, it claims at least. I'll try it on the dock later.

First impression, more ports than I expected. But there's no normal usb port?? Wtf.The build seems solid. But this is one of those metal cases that is cold as fuck to the touch and I hate it.The touchpad seems huge as hell. I don't need something this big. People are sick in their heads 🤷♂️.I opened the screen up and it turned on by itself and started playing sound and talking. What the freaking hell demonic shit is this. It's scary. I hadn't taken the white paper from the screen yet 😂😰

The keyboard feels soooooo freaking weird 😱😭. It's so hard. It's uncomfortable. At least the arrows buttons are properly separated and not the crime you see in so many modern laptops. At this point I still want the thinkpad I would choose by myself if I could, since better keyboard and stupidly better specs than this.

Well it's the smallest computer in this household currently. So I'll call that a great success. No longer have to suffer with the horrible horrible and heavy dell xps I had for work before.Better days shall come when I get a framework 12'' or a new thinpad 😅

Ok, I had to pause a bit. Reopened this to try and finish the onboard setup.Finally found how to click the "next" button with the touchpad... You need to literally press down!!! I don't know if it doesn't have tap to touch at all or just is not enabled when you first open the laptop 😅.Managed to progress 😌.Finally reached the wifi network screen and noticed that the scroll up and down on a list is working in reverse!!!? Not the right way at all. I'm scared 😰

It asks me now to create an apple account??? No idea what that is, I'm hoping to not need itThere's a "Set up Later" button I guess I'll choose that for now.Obviously not a "never" or "no" is shown anywhere.It doesn't even tell anywhere on the screen wtf it is or for what.Just at the bottom "the mac will be associated with your apple account and data such as...."I don't get it. I've messed with the settings for a few minutes now and managed to scale the screen zoom a bit which is nice. Finally found the option for tap-to-click for the touchpad, but it doesn't work as I usually expect and still forces me to really press down to click on some things. This is horrible. My linux experience is usually much better.Can also disable the thing "natural scrolling", so scrolling is making sense finally.Changed the pointer size on setup but can't find the setting now.

By default it connected to my wifi, but on the settings complained that it was not "privacy secure" or something. So by default it connected without randomizing the mac address and prefers to complain in the settings so you manually change it. Makes no sense. Should be the opposite if at all. If I was connecting to a hotspot where it mattered it would be too late.

Found more mouse settings by searching and changing the cursor size is under something called "Motor" in the accessibility section... 😮💨.Was able to change the size of the dock, and zoom of stuff, changed the text size I a bit I think.There's a bunch of icons on the wallpapers choice screen that I have no idea what they do or mean but some appear to be because it downloads some of the things you choose and you have to wait 🙃

Playing with the windows, it has almost the same functionality I expect to find on Linux. Dragging to the borders and side allows to tile. But it's so awkward and not as responsive as I would expect. Might very likely be because I'm not used to this freaking weird touchpad. It's already making my hand hurt.Tried to drag to the top, sometimes I'm able to make it maximize other times it starts showing the change desktop panel and I have no idea how it's getting triggered.🫠

When I try to click/double click on the top of a window like the Finer it starts changing shape super weirdly. Haven't made sense of it yet. Ultra unnatural.

It's mind boggling how I can't find any place showing me the time remaining on the battery. Just that it is 53% 😅. Totally useless information.Also tried all the keyboard combinations I could think of to close a window and haven't found how to do it yet.I know I pressed some key that obviously showed the smile/emoji choosing window... Totally expected as it is obvious. But it doesn't go away when the esc key is pressed.So, so far, linux wins in all UX I've experienced today.

The main problem with proprietary OSs is that they only support one style, and if that style doesn't fit you as a user, you're out of luck. GNU+Linux (or any other free software OS), however, does not have this limitation. You don't like how a particular application feels or interacts, you can swap it out or alter it in any way you desire until it matches how you think.A proprietary OS will never win in UX.

Found that if I press for long enough the fingerprint thing it turns off 😅. This button is highly inconsistent. I press does nothing. Press slightly different way goes to lock screen. If I try again nothing. If I press on the corner works. If I press with the finger that unlocks it quickly goes in and out like a drunk person 😅
