@benny @benroyce @72mz @MannyDexter @MrBirch @grumble209 @todymotmot @wendinoakland @profdc9 @zakalwe Two issues:1) America is first past the post, so third parties often harm the parties they should be allied with.2) Republican have abandoned voting on policy or principle. They vote for tribal power. They will be very hard to split.IMO, the better strategy is a very broad Dem party (far left to centre right). But reframe as "fighters" to lure some of the GOP voters drawn by that.1/

@benny @benroyce @72mz @MannyDexter @MrBirch @grumble209 @todymotmot @wendinoakland @profdc9 @zakalwe But more than anything, anyone anti-MAGA needs to be rebuilding communication networks outside the rightwing control (or complicit MSM)That means off techbro social media, as well as supporting leftist and investigative media. It requires rebuilding social groups and protests.Without that, no message gets out and the voters are (again) manipulated by propaganda.

@TCatInReality @benny @benroyce @72mz @MrBirch @grumble209 @todymotmot @wendinoakland @profdc9 @zakalwe Yup.And telling people they're deplorable or moronic is not going to build what you need. One of the major issues in my precinct is that voters feel that the Democrats are as bad for their daily lives as Republicans. I attended Coach Walz and Beto's town hall. There was a lot of talk about saving the middle class. Many of my voters feel that this isn't them. They rent. They work multiple jobs. Some of them I only connect with when the city is shut down because they are normally at work or asleep. When I was growing up, the Dems were the party of working people. It doesn't seem like that now.

@benroyce @MannyDexter @TCatInReality @benny @72mz @MrBirch @grumble209 @todymotmot @wendinoakland @profdc9 @zakalwe Problem is we can't "route around" them. There are too many.We have no choice but to meet them where they are, and give them a path out.

@dragonsideddNo, there aren't too many.Per @benroyce's post, all that’s needed is to make sure that non-voters actually show up to the polls and cast for Ds. If everyone who voted for Biden had voted for Harris, she'd have won easily.(Graphic shows U.S. presidential election results 1976 - 2024 ranked per percentage of eligible voters. In every year except 2020, proportion of “did not vote” is higher than for any candidate.)(From https://mstdn.social/@GreenFire/114360703076400408)

@mmalc @dragonsidedd @benroyce Dems need to prove themselves as having platform beyond being "not the Republicans". Because you can't sell yourselves as an opposition party that doesn't actually oppose anything and think anyone is going to come out for you. And putting Bernie and AOC on tour and then sidelining them at the ballot doesn't count.

@benroyce @bebadefabo @mmalc @dragonsidedd AOC is the future. Bernie is the past. At least AOC might be able to bring people together. Bernie loses in the primary, then acts bitter and reluctantly pretends to support the nominee... and his supporters sense that and stay home. Haven't we had enough of that already? And at his age, he is DEFINITELY not the future.

@benroyce @bebadefabo @mmalc @dragonsidedd I am glad he is passing the torch. I hope AOC doesn't make the same mistakes he did.
