I think I'm very well-qualified to write a book called "Coping with Extroversion" with advice and tips for extroverts. Obviously an extrovert would struggle to write a book like this since they need to stop talking to do so. But, I have interacted with a few of them and I think I know how it works and have some excellent ideas about What Ought To Be Done About It.

@futurebird Would they stop talking enough to read it though?

@futurebird As someone who is married to an extrovert, I would read this book and tell him about it! His struggle IS real: being the last person still awake at a convention looking for someone to talk to, trying to trade life stories with a server who has other customers to serve, being married to an introvert who just wants to go home. πŸ˜‚

@futurebird I'm way too talkative for my own good. My current job - support and teach researchers to use HPC systems - has me talking all day, every day. I love doing this. And I'm an introvert. Meaning I need quiet downtime away from people every so often during the day. Meaning I spend my evenings and weekends only with my wife, or in solitude tinkering with something.Being social and talkative; and being extroverted are often related but not the same.

@futurebird perhaps it needs to be delivered in a new extroversion friendly format. You split the book up into segments perhaps six - not standalone segments but interlaced with the other segments (kinda like a play)Then you get six extroverts together in a space (not hard though watch that they don’t keep inviting others to join) give them each their parts and let them co-read the book together. While us less extroverted folks go have some quiet time or some one on one in the other rooms

@futurebirdJust point them in the direction of local government commissions, elected office, service clubs, non-profits. Once they learn how to chair a meeting (getting others to talk, staying on time and on task), they are invaluable.

@futurebird extroverts are exhausting. I have a hard time visiting my mother-in-law. I have to hide a lot. Non-stop talking.

@futurebird It is sad how many people in our culture still suffer from extroversion. Where are the medications or treatments for helping people with this disability? I would absolutely buy copies of this book and share them with people who I know have this terrible condition. I know extroverts are part of human neurodiversity, but their acting out in public and in private affects us all.
