       @evan I don't have the cultural context to know what a "deep clean" entails, so I'm probably not doing it. I first heard the expression just last year or so.When a part of my home is messier or dirtier than I can accept, I bring it down to acceptable levels plus a bit further for margin. I certainly do a lot less cleaning than the generation before me, who basically had cleaning as one of their hobbies.

       Lots of interesting comments.Our house is about annually. We do a Spring cleaning where we empty drawers and closets, move furniture away from the walls, mop the floors, scrub surfaces, beat the rugs, and then carefully put things away again -- taking care to donate or discard objects that are not needed or wanted anymore.It's emotionally and physically exhausting. Some years, it is too much, and we just skip it. Others, we only get part of the house done in spring, and do other rooms later.

       @evan I've moved 20 times in the last 25 years, which I guess effectively means a deep clean, so with that in mind maybe I would have voted "about annually". 😅Every time I move out, I marvel at how clean the old home is now. 🤣

       This year I'll probably renew my two-year contract rather than moving.I've been thinking that I should treat it as a "move" into my existing home and make it as nice as I would make it if someone else were moving in.
