What does this mean? Can everybody run their own #ATproto infrastructure like people run fedi servers now and be just as independent and what then would be the advantages of one over the other? Is the new goal of #FreeOurFeeds just to make sure their network becomes at least as decentralized as ours is? Why give #bluesky any more VC money? #SocialWebhttps://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:ragtjsm2j2vknwkz3zp4oxrd/post/3lo7ced2mes2d

@mastodonmigration ultimately I think I most want/imagine a #SocialWeb where every govt, corp, org and media outlet etc runs their own fedi server and most of us are on something that looks like sfba.social or cosocial.ca (non profit based on locality). if AT can be an equal partner in giving us that, great. still hard to believe so far.

@wjmaggos that blog post is focused on a single piece of infrastructure: relays. in the past there was a fixation from some folks on the cost and control of that piece of infrastructure, and this is a response to that.there are still other pieces of atproto/bluesky infrastructure which are not easy to get up and running at scale; and there are folks working on making those easier.
