We are testing Ghost's ActivityPub beta integration for 404 Media! We're really excited about the future of the decentralized internet, we're stoked that Ghost is leading the way, and we're proud to be one of its first adopters. You can follow us @index Right now things seem pretty buggy but it's obviously very early. Looking forward to messing around with it and making the product better. Eventually as it gets better that will probably become our main account but for now we'll crosspost

@index So far the bugs are pretty interesting. It's not picking up every article, not every ActivityPub client is picking everything up, and it's not picking up our profile image. But the beta just launched yesterday. The feature we're most excited for is Notes, which is going to let us post social-first posts that will hopefully eventually be able to show up directly on our website. So we can do a mix of our normal articles and shorter things that don't rise to level of "article"

@404mediaco Great! Seems that it is live at feed@404media.co and not index@404media.co 😊 You might also want to consider renaming into 404media@404media.co or 404mediaco@404media.co so that it disambiguate nicer in mentions?

@404mediaco @index@www.404media.co So. I'm confused by ghost. I keep hearing talk about it but, unlike substack, finding access strange. Your new account takes to your website. Is your whole website transferred over to ghost and will remain as currently designed? That's great. I love your website and content. Somehow, I guess I'm searching for who's on ghost but maybe not understanding it's probably more decentralized? Just not understanding how to get the most out of ghost as a reader...

@EricBono The short answer: Ghost is a content management system and 404media already had it in use. It now allows them to directly post to the Fediverse without creating an account on another instance.

@EricBono @zichy that’s correct but as part of this, Ghost is building an activitypub reader. So as a reader/news consumer you’ll be able to use that reader to read activitypub stuff (including our articles) in a single unified feed. This is part of the beta but because it just launched there are only a few users so there’s not too much there yet
