@stux Nothing much happens when I click on that. Well, a media window pops up, but nothing shows or plays. Alt-Text?

@stux never knew that he pretended to have those ideals.I mean obviously he just wants to say what he thinks people want to hear, so this is unsurprising, but I think I'm already over my toxicity levels for thoughts about leeches on society.

@stux Tried that already, and tried it again now. No joy. Chrome browser from the default web interface, albeit in pro mode.

@stux “what the terms say is we’re not going to share peoples information EXCEPT” and that where the trouble starts. T&C then make it part of the terms of use that you agree to have your information shared with their party advertisers lol

@stux I read the Facebook T&Cs before deciding to have nothing to do with the company, around 2005.Back then, they explicitly said that you granted a non-exclusive, transferrable, sublicensable, commercial license to anything that you upload that Facebook could use for any purpose.A lot of online platforms require you to grant a license to the content that allows them to distribute it for the purpose of operating the service. Facebook explicitly demanded a license that let them take anything you created, sell it to another company, and have that company further monetise it an any arbitrary way.Oh, and you also agreed to indemnify Facebook if they did this with any of the things that you uploaded and it turned out that you didn't have the right to grant them the right. If you posted something that you didn't own, Facebook sold it to a third party, and the real owners then sued Facebook, you agreed to cover Facebook's legal fees. And this is why I strongly recommend that no one signs up for a service without reading the T&Cs. They're usually long to hide nefarious things. For reference, this is Signal's privacy policy and T&Cs. You should be able to read the whole thing in a few minutes and understand all of it.

@stux "the privacy settings on Facebook are really unparalelled..." Yeah, I remember when Facebook decided to make private profile photos publicly visible to everyone, ignoring previous privacy settings, or when "private" telephone numbers could be used to find people (even allowing for reverse engineering, extracting telephone numbers) and many more privacy fails...

Yeah, I remember when Facebook decided to make private profile photos publicly visible to everyone, ignoring previous privacy settings, or when "private" telephone numbers could be used to find people (even allowing for reverse engineering, extracting telephone numbers) and many more privacy fails (by design).
