I wonder how things are going over in Sig Sauer land. Oh, a new version of their P320 user manual was released. I wonder what changed."THE MOST EFFECTIVE SAFETY IS TO CARRY YOUR PISTOL WITHOUT A ROUND IN THE CHAMBER, AND TO LOAD A ROUND IN THE CHAMBER ONLY WHEN READY TO FIRE."They're at the tell the customer not to carry the gun in the only manner truly effective for self-defense stage. Got it.Don't buy a Sig P320.https://www.sigsauer.com/media/sigsauer/resources/OPERATOR_S_MANUAL_P320_8501909-01_REV15_WEB_FILE_1.pdf

@realcaseyrollins Not really. The most effective safety is to keep your booger hook off of the bang switch until you're ready to fire. If a handgun is designed properly (like basically every modern pistol besides the P320), carrying with a round in the chamber is as safe as carrying without a round in the chamber since the round is completely inert unless you press the trigger.

@realcaseyrollins @ThorHammerfist I think its that its as safe as a glock. Hence the term glock leg. And that bugger hook comment just shows your unawareness for the grip reflex if the gun gets snagged even a little.

@realcaseyrollins There have been mulitple instances of P320s firing without the trigger being pressed. Initially it was blamed on the gun being dropped (and there was supposedly a design update to make the gun drop safe) but there are multiple videos of the gun going off while sitting in a holster. The US military adopted the P320 as the M17. This lead to multiple police department adopting it. Several of those departments have now banned the use of the gun due to these issues.

@Iamthebammbamm @realcaseyrollins Except the issues with Glocks were largely caused by holstering (user) errors. TheP320 has been documented going off sitting in a holster not being touched.

@ThorHammerfist @realcaseyrollins interesting curious why that's coming out now. Those firearms are exceptionally well built and tested having won the competition to be the Army service pistol in 2017. Manufacturing quality went to shit?

@ThorHammerfist @realcaseyrollins If there is a round in the chamber and you drop the pistol the wrong way any pistol can fire (although any decent design will not fire from a reasonable drop). There a risk of someone grabbing your pistol and shooting you, which is why you don't want a round in the chamber (as you have a chance to get it back when it doesn't fire). If you don't have skill issues, it takes no additional time to rack the slide as you draw, thus there is no reason to walk around with a hot pistol.

@Iamthebammbamm @realcaseyrollins Being exceptionally well built isn't necessarily a major consideration for a military contract. Logistics are a big part. Sig won that contract in part because it also bid low for replacement parts and accessories. Questions were rasied about the M17 adoption due to questionable testing and results, which resulted in a lawsuit from at least one other competitor (Glock). The US military has adopted flawed weapons before and then fixed those flaws over time.

@Suiseiseki@realcaseyrollins Get a Glock, M&P, CZ P-series, or any other modern defense orient handgun, cock the striker, throw it on the ground until the striker lets go, and get back to me. I won't hold my breath. If you don't carry with a round in the chamber, you're a fool. An attacker isn't going to respect your request to halt for a moment so you can chamber a round.Chambering a round is easy in a flat range. It's a whole other thing when somebody is beating on you.

@ThorHammerfist @realcaseyrollins >throw it on the groundWhy would I damage a glock for no reason? It most likely won't fire, but why risk a round firing who knows where for no reason?>If you don't carry with a round in the chamber, you're a fool.If you carry with a round in the chamber, you're a fool, as the most likely situation to result from such is you shooting yourself, or someone shooting you with your pistol.>An attacker isn't going to respect your request to halt for a moment so you can chamber a round.Try not going to places where you have to worry about attackers that requires lethal force against maybe? If you can't rack while drawing without halting, you have skill issues.>It's a whole other thing when somebody is beating on you.Generally pulling out a pistol is going to make anyone anyone who totally insane reconsider and run away and in such case, you won't need to and shouldn't fire a round.
