“If the Chrome download bar on your Mac is staying open, you can try closing it with Alt+Shift+H or using the "Hide Download Bar" Chrome extension.”There is no “alt” key on a mac. There is no extension for chrome called “hide download bar”— this isn’t even a remarkably bad AI result it is just how it is now. I assume people who don’t use computers often don’t notice how bad this is? Maybe they just think they can’t make their computer work because they are bad at computers?

@futurebird it is exactly that. The tech world has hidden its incompetence and malice behind a shame loop imposed on users.

@futurebird the literal apple menu, the first thing you can navigate to, which is omnipresent on a mac gives you the shortcut keys for all its options when you click it. The one for "force quit" has a symbols which does not exist on a Mac keyboard. It's got badness baked-in.

@futurebird Wait, people are still using Chrome? At this point it should be considered actively harmful...I wonder if with Macs you press that command key instead?

@futurebird I think many less experienced users would read that, try to follow the instructions and when they didn’t work, they would assume that they were doing something wrong and give up. 🤦🏻
