Maybe there isn't A Tipping Point, but several. Like milestones on the long road to freedom. I've just reached one.#AI #Enshittification

You mean well, I know, all of you who read what I wrote, but are now telling me to install Linux anyway. Please just let me have this today, friends. Please don't make me tap the sign.https://mastodon.green/@CiaraNi/114001805605468618

@CiaraNi When I saw the parent toot I literally thought about this toot haha.It is really a bit of a disease :)But more on topic; most tech at the moment is literally so bad... So many awful choices that makes it SO hard.. So much noise. Recall/Copilot was also my major tipping point.

@jalict @CiaraNi Haha, yeah… and Mastodon is probably *the* social network where you'll get barraged by comments of IT hobbyists who somewhat miss that, for many people, a computer isn't more than a car or a toilet. It should just work, tinkering with it doesn't have to be exciting. To share a buyer's guide for ready-to-use Linux devices would be more useful in most cases. Got an old one here, in case someone wants one (better open in desktop view though).https://noxblog.eu/821/make-your-computer-your-computer/4/

@Natanox @CiaraNi @jalict > It should just work, tinkering with it doesn't have to be exciting. Here bidets are aftermarket add-ons (built-in is far too overpriced). Not anything exciting or complicated, but something that needs doing anyway.I don't use a car, but apparently with newer DRM-locked cars it can be necessary to modify the seats to enable heating feature & so on.> To share a buyer's guide for ready-to-use Linux devices would be more useful in most cases.I would recommend against using pre-installed OSes in /general/, whether Linux, Windows or something else. They usually come with pre-installed bloatware and potentially malware.Linux distros tend to come with weird nonstandard package repositories that aren't properly maintained.

@Natanox @jalict @CiaraNi @lispi314 How is enjoying and encouraging 100% freedom making things worse? It's only making things better.
