I know Amazon used to get criticized for sending items in boxes that were absurdly large for their contents. Today I got a paperback book in one of their padded sleeves; its cover and a large number of interior pages were bent. Maybe the packaging should match what’s being shipped.

@drdrang I know someone who is picky about their books who has returned two or three in a row of the same book because they all arrived mangled.Don't get me started on Walmart during the pandemic. Order something like spaghetti sauce along with other goods, you get a box of miscellaneous items with spaghetti sauce all over them. They had no clue how to pack glass containers.

@mike805 @drdrang Yeah, I've all but entirely stopped buying books directly from Amazon, which is ironic since my first purchase from them in their first year or two of operation ~1995 was books. They used to care about this, had cheap enough ways to preserve the quality of a book like using plastic to hold them to a cardboard stiffener, now I pretty much buy used, and from eBay more often than third party Amazon merchants. Now when it comes to books and so much else they're part of "The Landfill Economy."
