Someone remind me what is the argument against holding the White House in criminal contempt at this point? I keep reading headlines like "Will Trump Create a Constitutional Crisis?" He already has, many times over. There is little indication this administration is doing anything to comply w/ multiple court orders, and it is thumbing its nose at the rulings. The POTUS is going to force the issue sooner or later. But later does not really seem like an appropriate response from the judiciary and does nobody any favors.

@briankrebsSeems like everyone's waiting for him to directly defy a supreme court order, at which point... game over, I guess? Maybe we can bring in some South Korean lawmakers, but they're expensive now with the tariffs.

@briankrebs There is no argument against it. But they can't do shit to Trump because he has immunity. And going after the DOJ, when the DOJ is who should do something about the contempt charge, isn't going to do anythingWe need a revolutionOr maybe congress and the courts could do their jobs. Just kidding. That will never happen

@DoNotPunchDown Fine. Start with sanctioning all the lawyers involved.

@briankrebs the problem is that most of the SCOTUS wants to avoid having to commit or do anything. they seem to just want our entire democracy to implode in a way that they can claim they weren't to blame...personally, i think their "the president can do what they want while in office" decision is why TFG decided to run again and they and key GOP are very much to blame.

@briankrebs The judiciary has no power to discipline the executive branch. Are they going to send a bailiff over to arrest the president for contempt of court?

@algaeman Well, the courts certainly have the power to enforce the law and compel law enforcement agencies to act, like US Marshals. They can also review and overturn executive orders.

@briankrebs my general opinion is everyone we thought would stand for the rule of law thinks it’s self-fulling and doesn’t realize they have jobs. I think we have been at constitutional crisis since he was elected because felon in White House was going to be a felon on day one. My question is after he falls and his minions fall what next for this country do we do the right thing and tear up constitution and make anew this time including everyone and better safeguards that are take into account stupidity though it’s high bar. My big concern right now isn’t just illegal regime behaviors you see Bond Villains be portrayed doing but that I saw a report Air Force got approved a AI piloted F-16. I know the Israelis use AI on swarm drone flights in carrying out the genocide but still like anyone not sounding alarm bells on that
