If teachers where to tell students something like this here in Netherlands:"if a shooting is happening you need to flee or hide and make no sound"Parents would immediately move their kids to another schoolThat's because such warnings would be a massive red flag here

I cannot imagine my teachers telling me this or anything in that wayThe only time i ever saw a firearm as a kid was when the police came to school to talk about their jobsIt's not 'normal', all im saying

@stux the US government doesn’t care that students are hunted down and massacred in the very place they go to learn and are suppose to be safe, they won’t pass laws that make it impossible for someone to purchase firearms because they get too much $ form the gun industry in the US. #saveourchildren #NoMoreGuns

@stux They're the same red flag here, there just isn't any other "safe" school.

@stux Society in Netherlands is quite different from society in the United States. What's normal for you and what's normal for me are two different things, as well.Much like trans people who are born with the "wrong" gender - it's not normal for them. They don't wish to be labeled by society as the gender they know they're not."Normal" is relative. What's normal for you or I isn't for someone else. What's normal for me isn't for you.

For me, firearms were normal. For hunting. For shooting competition. Even some school clubs for the latter.Firearms were carried and used carefully like other dangerous tools.Shooting people with them, though? Very not normal. If someone had told me as a kid that "if a shooting happens..." I'd have nodded and finished it with "render first aid," because someone made a mistake or had an accident and will need help. But "Run and hide?" Augh, I hate this timeline.@stux

@stuxOnly time we ever heard that advice here up in Sweden was after that awful event in Örebro. But, yeah.
