       @everylibrary I think many of us are tired. Calling a congressperson, writing letters, signing petitions seems futile. But, these are first actions. Take them. Do them like little chores. They aren't the full solution but there are people counting on us being lazy and buying in to the idea that no action is huge enough to be real... and every real action is too dangerous to take. Instead do everything within your power however small it may feel.

       @futurebird Congress gets tired of hearing from us. It is a powerful way to get them to change. Also calling and leaving a message. Be very precise about what you write, because leaving any wiggle room they will send a canned response and move on. @everylibrary

       @futurebird This is spot on. It isn’t only laziness that deters folks. People get overwhelmed and and sad in the face of Trump’s tyranny and this can be paralyzing. Every act of opposition can lift you out of the funk. @everylibrary @gleick

       @futurebird You'll never know when your one call will matter greatly, either.I was the only caller on a piece of legislation for which one of my senators was on the fence, according to a staffer I spoke with. My call mattered greatly.One call can matter greatly if it's the one which pushes total call volume over a threshold by which the congressperson measures constituents' concern. We can't tell when that threshold is reached, we simply have to call anyhow and recruit others to call.

       @futurebird @everylibrary Lately I have been calling my congresscritter and making chicken noises asking when he is going to grow a pair and have a townhall?  Said we would bring stuebe snacks for people who wanted them like old eggs and tomatoes.He has not had a townhall since trump started doing stupid crap.  Bok bok bok bokcak!Actually I think chickens might be braver than him as I have seem them take on dogs before.

       @futurebird i just got a reply from hochul in response (i think?) to what i sent about chucking the mayor. The reply doesn’t say anything about any issue though, so i’m not sure what it responds to.) it came at 10pm this evening. Useless reply but i think they are required to log my initial query so still worth having done it, whatever it was. 🫤
