@feike I sharpen them regularly. The second one is insanely cheap, I need to sharpen it daily, the first one I use for most tasks except hot rolls cooked in deep frier and fileting fish. Japanese once are cool and sharp, but these ones are old and a challenge to sharp them effectively

@feike I wouldn't put any sensitive information on it, and would cover cameras and microphone as well. I was broke in uni, and had to use it after my pixel was supported no more, and the experience is subpar to stock os or GrapheneOS. I liked the lack of gapps by default tho

@inyanblood the thing I want of my phone is to not have google or any other big tech nonsense on it, I use duckduckgo to block trackers in banking apps etc. Total privacy, like total security, requires you to poar your device into concrete or something. But I have taped off my selfie camera.

@inyanblood also, what is the thread to which I have to protect my sensitive data? Does LineageOS have the ability for an atecker to pull all my data over the network?! What is the actual risk I'm facing? ๐

@feike LineageOS is slow on updates, it doesn't ship firmware updates, it requires unlocked bootloader which makes verified boot impossible to use, most supported devices are outdated and aren't supported by manufacturer to release firmware and driver updates, and all of this issues make your device more exploitable locally as well as remotely, making it worse than stock OSs in terms of security.Don't take it as if I want to shit on it for no reason, it's still a decent postmarket os, just have realistic expectations. I used circa 6 months and generally it was very usable

@inyanblood oh, I'm just being a little critical, to see if your arguments are thoughtful, it looks like they are. so: - slow updates, so, I should not postpone any of the update I dรณ get;- unlocked bootloader, but my laptop has an unlocked bootloader too, I don't get why that is important. That is against local (non-remote) threads, isn't it?The device in question is a #fairphone3+, I ran #ubports' Ubuntu Touch on it copple of years back (1/...)

@feike verified boot requires bootloader to be locked. This security feature ensures your os stays the same between reboots. If remote exploit manages to get elevated privileges, your phone will revert any changes made to the base image. This actually makes impossible for your phone to become a part of a botnet, for example. And desktop operating system have a different flawed security model, which makes mobile devices more secure than desktop/laptop. I still use Linux, but I save money to build a PC for qubesos so I can use the same software with more security.Read this this if you're interested:https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/linux.html#examplesMost of this criticism is applied to windows, bsd and mac as well

@inyanblood (2/...) but that was more insecure than #LineageOS, because I installed the Tor browser on it, but it didn't do much in the works of sandboxing my browser session, the websites' trackers just leaked through. (don't remember the concequences thereof).I had Ubuntu Touch with a virtual machine on it, waydroid, which ran LineageOS so, I thought, I'll just install that instead. (2/2)

@inyanblood right. Thanks! "The bootloader is unlocked (...) don't keep any sensitive data on the device" meanwhile the US government using Signal to communicate there attack strategies. (signal isn't bad, it's just not for GOVERNMENTS)๐ญ for crying out loud

@feike I agree, they should use dumbed down devices with minimal setup
