I'm staying at a household where they play for Disney+. But we can't watch the MCU Spiderman movies, because some other company has the rights to movie adaptions of the character. So we're now expected to pay for 2 different streaming services to binge the MCU in order?Best argument for #BitTorrent ever.#Disney #MCU #Spiderman

@strypey Also worth checking out what your local library has. Some films may be available on DVD. Some may be available on e-library provided services like Kanopy. Some older films used to be on TVNZ+ and may return!

All practical suggestions @Kay, but what I was highlighting there is the failed promise of streaming subscriptions. In a sane world you'd be able to pay one reasonable subscription and see anything you want. With the resulting revenue shared fairly between producers. At minimum, an integrated set of movies like the MCU would be available on one platform, for one subscription. The current situation is as unsustainable as every movie and TV producer having their own streaming service.

@strypey Oh I agree on the annoyance and recognize it as a feature of capitalist systems, not a bug. Friend @nzlemming wrote once on deliberate de-skilling of jobs in banks and other orgs so bosses could pay less. Separation of streamed content follows the same premise of charging more for each bit. Also like stripping out bran from while grains and then selling it back at higher price.A sane world sounds like #HopePunk a variety of #SF Science fiction.

@strypey Yeah. I subscribe to one streaming service and always check there first. If they don't have it, I'll go to community streaming.
