@wannabemystiker @jbhall56 The masks don't work. They're pure medical "security theatre". They also contribute to hypoxia and are a breading ground for the bacteria which cause pneumonia, which is the opposite of helpful in the situation. Maybe you guys should try using your brains instead of just regurgitating what/who ever the MSM tells you to think/hate du jour.

@toiletpaper Hmm. That's a bit of a tangent from the original post. I'm a healthcare professional that worked throughout the pandemic (seeing patients, daily) and never suffered any adverse effects from wearing an N95 nor did I contract COVID-19.

@wannabemystiker Good for you. But bear in mind that the vast majority of the masks in use were nothing more than a strip of nylon fabric with a couple loops to go around the ears. As to not getting SARS-Cov-2, I doubt it. You may have been asymptomatic, but you almost certainly got it. I did. First time was Nov 2019 after my landlady got back from Beijing. Laid me out for nearly 3 months. Almost 1 entire month on my back. And I got it a few times since because I lived with front-line workers. Thankfully I have a functioning immune system and recovered just fine with dwindling effects each subsequent occasion.But apart from mine and others experience I know that the vast majority of the advice given to people was absolutely nonsense designed only to manipulate people's emotions with fear or a false sense of security depending what snake oil the establishment was trying to peddle du jour. You don't need a medical degree to see that.Anyway, masking was referenced in the OP, so maybe a tangent from your attempt to vilify MAGA copism. But when you're basically bleating "orange man baaaaad" and do it in the context of such a really dumb attempt to defame people using their common sense, it begs for some pushback.

@wannabemystiker Incidentally, if you think that the masks were worn to protect *you* from getting Covid, you have it backwards. The primary means of transmission presumed was aerosolised saliva. The point of wearing a mask was (just like in an operating theatre) to not project spittle droplets into the air other people were breathing. However, short of wearing a respirator, those masks leak out the sides, and as I said, the warm liquid environment which builds up on their surface is an ideal breading ground for bacteria. It's also the ideal surface for the virus to survive, making any manual adjustment of the mask a major vector of contamination for other surfaces. The longest one should wear an n95 mask is around an hour at most, before it's either washed thoroughly or disposed of and replaced. Nor should it be worn all day every day, as that contributes to hypoxia. Again, you don't need a medical degree to understand these things.Never mind the famous Cochrane multivariate analysis of mask efficacy, which made it clear that there's no statistically significant evidence of any benefit according to the most current body of data.
