Trying to resist binge watching Hannah Fry's Modern Devices show on BBC2 via iPlayer. I can highly recommend it if you are into taking things apart to see how they work. Basically each episode she picks an appliance or thing (air fryer, smart card, fridge etc) and takes it apart and looks at the history and technology of the interesting parts.#makers

@ianturtonIf you like that, Tim Hunkin did "The Secret Life Of Machines" in glorious 80's retro, and much later "The Secret Life Of Components" and "The Secret Life Of Arcade Machines." The latter two an excellent resource for electromechanical makers. All on accursed YT.@nivrig

@vik @ianturton @nivrig Despite being a huge fan of The Secret Life programmes (probably what got me into engineering), it only struck me this week, as she was hacking that heating element apart, that Hannah Fry's show is essentially the same. And it's wonderful!
