@redhero I guess to stop Chinese scalpers buying them all up and reselling in China (it’s a big problem at Apple Store here I’ve heard). I guess they have more control when selling direct.

@alanb There’s a lot of conditions too. Have to have played over 50 hours. Even subscribed for over a year to online. I dunno if I qualify having multiple region accounts. Gonna be 70k anyways. I’ll wait until there’s an oled.

@Haikyoneko @brian @alanb They are making a cheaper version just for the Japanese audience. I am unclear if you can only use a Japan account (you need an established one for the preorder) but it looks that way. System language can’t be changed. Hope people hack the fuck out of it right away.

@redheroYou can preorder from the Japanese site I think, but surg the conditions of number of play hours and over a years membership of Nintendo online again to stop scalpers. I'm at a stage of my life where I can just buy stuff, so I'll check the specs, how backwards compatible it is etc, and if I still want it I'll buy it. @brian @alanb

@Haikyoneko @redhero @brian I totally understand their reasons - and being able to offer a cheaper version for Japan is awesome - but I’m still gonna grumble. We’ll prob get a galaswitch for the kid, I can get my Mario Kart fix and wait for some future price drop for myself. Like a) I have time to play games and b) I don’t have a big enough backlog on the steam deck 😆
