Something I talk a lot about is how hard things engender hard things around them, and how it's important to contemplate how to recognize and avoid their determination of our behavior.Fascism taking over our government is, in this sense, a very hard thing, and it's quite clear that the desperate need to oppose it is making many reach for the very same tools it does. They are, after all, convenient to us, for some strange reason.

Something @interfluidity said today about the fash bringing out fascism in everyone and this imo very important @aworkinglibrary post that looks squarely at the harms of picking up attacks on intelligence when addressing fascists has me thinking again about deep needs for new or rediscovered shared language for our widespread outrage.https://mstdn.social/@aworkinglibrary/114265049108619249I'm reluctant to say "We need a better class of insult to hurl at fascists" but boy howdy we're missing good tools.
