       Americans:  what is the appeal of baseball?  Why do people watch it, why do people play it?  It's super long, and rarely does anything of note occur.  Hockey and football I kinda get the appeal of, but baseball's fan base has always confused me

       @fcktheworld587 Baseball is something that bonds Japanese, Taiwanese, Koreans, and the countries of the Americas together in a shared activity. The largest and longest running youth baseball tournaments on the planet are in Japan, and not the United States.

       @ater cool!  I had never heard of playing it w/ dice.  Probably pretty popular in jail.  I never gamble on jail, cause I don't want to end up owing someone money and having to kill them to get out of the debt

       @fcktheworld587 That's the simple answer, but the history is more complex. For example, Shikoku Island was introduced to baseball by young Japanese poets and writers in the late 1800s. They have an independent professional league on the island today.

       @fcktheworld587 @YakyuNightOwl I hate myself some imperialism, but baseball ain't that. It's a different beast out here. And, after tasting the Japanese version, I can't go back to the MLB. Mostly because of the beer delivery ladies, but the game is fun too.
