@element you should've just stayed quiet instead of posting https://element.io/blog/us-shows-the-risk-of-running-a-government-by-signal/It really just reads like "well, matrix is better for fascist governments planning airstrikes on innocent people".Just.. Why?

@vitali64sur@mamot.fr @element@mastodon.matrix.org Why this would never happen with ElementIt would, end of story. I don't care who has better encryption, no amount of security can prevent you from displaying your complete lack of brain by inviting a journalist into a private chat.

@element People in Yemen are dying and the idea you came up with is to promote matrix as the solution to planning more airstrikes on those people who asked nothing.Thank you for nothing, I expected slightly higher standards from you.

@vitali64sur @element Because the moles can't spy on the administration anymore. This is why they are so upset about the Administration not using official channels anymore.

@vitali64sur@mamot.fr @element@mastodon.matrix.org Why? You're not the target audience.Element would really want the US goverment to buy an expensive Element Pro SaaSS license while they are committing warcrimes. It would make them a lot of money after all.

@SuperDicq @vitali64sur @element imagine if firmware for our missiles is fully open source and every missile used in the airstrike contains a flash drive with the source code

@wolf480pl Oh, just sitting peacefully around, minding their own slaves, knitting their peaceful slogan, shooting some missiles as any kids do. It's just nostalgia for the sweet old Yemeni tradition of throwing rocks at Jews who weren't allowed to fight back. There aren't any Jews left in Yemen tho, except for the one last one imprisoned by Houthis, so what can they do? Throw all the rocks at this one Jew? That would be inhumane.@vitali64sur @element

@vitali64sur Yes, it's certainly much better, as in all wars, when military targets can be cleanly separated and humanitarian zones agreed. It would very much lower the entirely unnecessary risk of civilian casualties when striking the Houthis. No wars are free of them, though, that's why peace is obviously much better.@wolf480pl @element

@rcz @vitali64sur @element On one hand, the intent of the air strike was killing a particular military leader, and it was his decision to be among civilians, which matches the larger pattern of Houthis hiding military assets among civiliansOn the other hand, one could argue that the loss of civilian life was disproportionately high compared to the military advantage of killing one guy - in which case this'd be a war crime.Still, it's inaccurate to imply civilians were the intended target.

@wolf480pl @rcz @element I really don't care about the "intended" target, I care about what actually happened. And doing airstrikes on military leaders hiding among civilians, being perfectly aware that they are hiding among civilians, is already a war crime IMHO.

@Xandru@masto.ai They are currently selling Synapse Pro, an "improved" version of the Synapse Matrix server that is proprietary instead of free. That means that if you want to host a Matrix server using the free software version Synapse you will always be treated like a second class citizen now.

@newt @vitali64sur @element @SuperDicq >firmware for our missiles is fully open sourceHaving the source code of proprietary software under a source-available (proprietary) license on a flash drive (that runs proprietary software), with the binary being burned into circuits that that make up a socketed ROM chip that go into the missile (firmware - as if you can reprogram it, it's software), that is completely destroyed when the missile explodes, clearly wouldn't be free software.

@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com @newt@stereophonic.space @vitali64sur@mamot.fr @element@mastodon.matrix.org You know as for missiles, considering that they are weapons intended to kill people I don't think it really matters if the software is free or not. It's unethical regardless. There's such as a thing as unethical free software development.
