       @crazy_pony >I wonder if we are ever able to bring such people to the Fediverse, or if we have just burned and lost themThe problem with the fedi in bringing Twitter users over is that the FOMO effect died out many times and never had the same force that BlueSky marketing has had (as an example and even that struggles at times), there's no central instance for people used to it, instance blocking is hilariously overdone (and given the amount of instances that hide it, make it harder to make a choice), and most importantly (for the furry sphere) the furry instances in the past all crashed and burnt hard.There's been a cycle of people learning the same lesson free forum admins back in the day had to learn: running a community is harder than it appears at first glance. I'm not kidding; everyone running their own forum had to learn about software updates, problem users, spambots even worse than "male enhancement" pill ads, and now there's the issue of dealing with users from other instances who don't have your rules. So admins end up dropping out because they're tired of moderation.Then there's having to negotiate with furry instances to not get blocked, it's a mess. It's why the userbase of fedi is full of nerds, people angry at Elon Musk (but who don't trust bsky), and those who are banned from Twitter for whatever reason.
