       @jeffjarvis This is grotesque. It's manipulative, working on worst human impulses, transparent, and yet it may still be effective. Because many people will look at the shaved heads, the tattoos the bars and say "you see they are criminals" simply because they see symbols that signify "criminal other"Isn't it embarrassing to be manipulated like this?

       @futurebird @jeffjarvis While some may think exactly this way, I'm afraid this is not the point here. It goes beyond familiar conservative propagandist grammar ("we're the good ones, they're the bad ones"). It's more like fascist grammar and imagery now: "they may be human beings but we still dare to treat them this way because yeah we're tough yeah we found the inner strength to do the dirty job yeah we don't share your bourgeois mentality we're not afraid to shock".
