@samurro Congratulations, you've learned that proprietarypay doesn't allow you to fund free software developers without running proprietary software. If you want to donate to free software developers while keeping your freedom and your privacy, ask them to put up a Monero address, or accept GNU taler.

@samurro Apparently it is so hard to make payment processing legally. I know FSF managed to make a libre payment processing thing on their store.

@blenderdumbass @samurro It's quite easy to handle payment processing legally - you just need to be a registered company that operates legally.Although, credit card providers demand ridiculous things, like payment only being carried out by their proprietary software (when a credit card transaction should just be a TLS-encrypted HTTP POST request, with the numbers and transaction amount right in the headers, but of course not). The FSF uses CivicCRM, which can collect the credit card details without even requiring JavaScript and send them off to the processing server over TLS.

@Suiseiseki @samurro If people anywhere just wanted to use CivicCRM, how easy would that be? Because that is technically very important.

@blenderdumbass @samurro Using it is just as hard as using any commercial CRM.https://civicrm.org (actually free software, under the AGPLv3-ambigious).

@blenderdumbass @samurro I haven't looked into it, but as long as using free software is legal in Israel, I reckon there's no reason why it would be illegal.

@Suiseiseki @samurro They have laws for software that does the tax accounting. To be approved by the state. Or something.

@blenderdumbass @samurro Of course. You might need to seek state approval, but I don't see why the state would say no.
