👹 FFS.When I first boot up my new Dell computer, I am "forced" to agree that• I cannot resell it.• That it is for my use. (So, I take it, my family members can't use it.)• That _any_ dispute I have with Dell—not just concerning this computer—will be governed by the laws of Texas. (continued)

@zillion Can't resell? Is this leased or something? Corporate bulk purchase, or ordinary retail sale?

       • That _any_ dispute I have with Dell must be resolved by arbitration and that it can only be individual (no class actions or the like). That, Dell says, includes past disputes!(There are some minor exceptions: I can take them to small claims court, and if at least 25 people submit similar claims the arbitrations can be consolidated with the consent of the arbitrator.)It's a good thing I never intended to use the supplied OS (Ubuntu) anyhow, so I can ignore this crap.

       • If I move the computer or deny the activation [agreement] of the computer, I must notify Dell.

@tomjennings Ordinary retail. Condition 3 of what I wrote could be argued to apply only to bulk purchases, though I don't think that's what it says, but the no resell clause clearly applies even to retail sales.
