The way cats lead you to their food bowl like you are the slowest most lumbering creature in the world who might forget where you are going if they don't stop and look back every two feet. Like they think you couldn't find your way out of a paper bag. But *also* the way my cat literally couldn't find her way out of a paper bag one time. (Although, she disputes this.)

@futurebird Ironically my cats are the opposite. They're actually terrible about informing me when I've failed at my most important single job as a cat owner. One will sometimes forego petting and eventually walk to the food bowl then look at it. Maybe. She doesn't lead me to it or anything, just walks over that way. The other acts like she'd rather starve than miss out on petting. At least I've learned to interpret that particular action by the one who actually does something about it. (Clearly I can't count on the other to let me know if I've screwed up.)

@nazokiyoubinbou So what I'm learning is that Pica has a unique personality. She very expressive and if you don't do what she wants she becomes more and more emphatic about it because I think she assumes the only reason you wouldn't do what she wanted instantly was because you didn't understand. She often leads me to the bowl and it's full, but she wants slightly different food? Or for me to fuss over her while she eats?

@futurebird I have one cat that starts agitating for food an hour in advance of feeding time with pathetic mews and rubbing around my legs. The other cat couldn't care less as long as he gets his playtime, and has to be coerced to eat.

@futurebird To be fair, we're so... impaired... Like we don't even have tails and we don't even read them that well. So they have to do the cat equivalent of yelling at us and some learn to scream even louder because we're still just not getting it.You probably already know this or at least much of it, but on this subject, cats hardly even meow at each other at all. Most of their sounds towards each other are very simple when they use sounds at all. They really are doing the equivalent of yelling at us from their perspective. They say the reason the cat meow sounds the way it does is, in fact, that they developed a sound like a (human) baby cry to get through to us best.

@futurebird My beloved cat Loki, who is very sweet but did, in fact, get stuck in a paper bag once. (Well, ok, the handles of a paper bag. He is fine; only his pride was wounded.)

@futurebird Theoretically, from the cat's perspective, you are literally moving in slow motion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yhVuyE0e08

@futurebird I often explain to Abby that we would get to the food bowl a lot sooner if she didn't insist on walking one pace ahead of me all the way downstairs.
