I have almost no activity on my BlueSky account. A single post, a single follower, nothing else. For some reason their algorithm timeline seems to think I'm very very interested in selfies of men without shirts on. No judgment if that's what you are into but WTH? Show me keyboards, monitors and Macs!

I have another test account, with a handful of posts, only 1 follower, no other activity. This one seems to think I like politics (mostly liberal leaning), cat pictures and furry foxes. 🤷♂️

@paul Bluesky has a LOT of LGBTQ+ users. Tech’s on there, but gotta follow people, Like/Fav posts, and train your Discover feed. It’s doable but it took me a couple months to get there

@slade i have opposite experience with mastodon, more LGBT then tech. It's all depend on who you following. I believe i can mate to myself decent feed only about emacs if i want@paul

@paul with your new client are you able to provide a feed without the algo or is it baked into to the basic API for the feed?Mastodon seem to be on decline, at least in my circles, and some fears I had of the moderation system here seems to be playing out so I am very happy to soon have your new client

@ripienaar i'm here since feb 2019, don't think fediverse on decline. I seen this pattern several times:Something external to the fediverse happen, bunch of people move here, many of them leaving quickly because «there is no on there» (No algorithms to show cats, politic activism and mans without cloth. Curating your own feed it's work, and no one like additional work), later some people leave figuring out that fediverse isn't what they wanted (not «X but without Y» or not «new growing market» for example), some people leave because see all this newcomers leave and think fediverse is dies. But some stay and find real friends, or just cozy place to be or something else there.Fediverse is friendly, but it chooses friends very carefully (:@paul
