In the worst case scenario, how do we maintain remote communication assuming access to established networks are totally controlled, or those facilities themselves have been destroyed?#techforgood #internet #freeinternet #freetheinternet #anarchism #beprepared #community #CommunityofMankind #TheGoodNews #evangelism #evangelist #euangelion

@phanuel HAM radio is cool but you may also appreciate meshtastic

@goldfishlaser thanks! I am always on the lookout for any decentralizing technologies. This #meshtastic looks good, but I'm primarily interested in such platforms or networks which can handle #tcpip or #ipfs .

@phanuel @goldfishlaser I love #meshtastic but if you want tv pip look into #reticulum. It uses the same Lora radios but is FAR more powerful for networking than meshtastic because it can uses many different radio technologies so you could have a 100 acre property on Lora radios connect to your home network and the internet. You can even use the meshtastic mesh to send private encrypted data on your network. It’s seriously bad ass.

@MarkFrom what I know of reticulum it's a bit of apples and oranges re: lora stuff. R has a lot more overhead and likes bandwidth, so they applications can move data over it. Where mesh stuff with LORA is extremely low throughput, tens of bytes, for event driven and small data messaging and control. Different applications. Mesh via lora is simple. Reticulum may not be so simple. That's from a very quick look at reticulum, my main point is, rtfm heavily. @phanuel @goldfishlaser

@tomjennings @Mark @phanuel @goldfishlaser Using #reticulum in #lora only #mesh using #meshchat application. It is beyond fantastic. No issues. Excellent delivery confirmation. Sends #images & #sound. When on the move with #rnode it resends messages, that failed due to no radio contact being available at the time of send, & sends them automatically later when in lora radio contact. Even re-sends chunks of images in batches as & when in lora contact again. Fab! Info: https://loramesh.org

@adingbatponderCool! I will have to read more closely. Thanks. I got disillusioned with meshtastic, and have set it aside, but still have three nodes and will deploy likely with reticulum after more rtfm. Thanks for links! @Mark @phanuel @goldfishlaser

@mark@federated.channelCool, and thanks for replying.I have three LoRa boxen, had been meddling with meshtastic, got dismayed, but then distracted by current project. But not forgotten. I think my assessment was just wrong. I will get back to it on a couple months or sooner and reticulum will get a thorough read. @Mark@weird.autos @phanuel @goldfishlaser
