@futurebird At whatever age you start needing to rely on medicine to continue living.

@futurebird Age I enjoyed the least or age I would least like to suddenly revisit? Because I think those are different

@futurebird Those are very narrow windows, and I associate ages with where I lived at the time rather than actual age. (moved a lot)

@futurebird Could be any of them but I can telll you from personal experience that 10 years old is a lousy age to deal with the culture shock of moving from New Jersey to North Carolina.

@futurebird I am utterly confused about what's so bad about 12-14 yrs old?

@futurebird Just under 18 is the worst age. Employers don't have to give you full minimum wage and you aren't entitled to certain benefits, but everything costs full price. Also huge swathes of society hate you in a way they'd find appalling if applied to any other group. There'll constantly be some news story about how you and your peers are uniquely stupid, lazy, thuggish, or over-sensitive. This is never the fault of the people actually old enough to have a say in anything.

@futurebird My kid is 14.12-13 seemed harder. That process to shove off "little kid" was tough but seems to be figuring out who she is at 14.Neither age is great, but by 14 the worst of puberty was over. Boys may be different as puberty is later.

@futurebird all of middle school was trauma for me. Getting beat up because I looked poor and sustaining injuries that would carry lifelong complications, and being told by both my parents and the school authority that I should have "fought back" was particularly fun.

@futurebird I can trace most of my trauma back to 2-5, but I felt just as helpless at 12.Life only got better in my mid-20s, when I got my own place, and even better when I left my home state in my late 20s.

@futurebird under 18 was just terrible and I wouldn’t relive any of them. “adulting” may be difficult but I value every shred of agency I have.
