Yesterday I upped my donations to @signalapp to €10/month, to cover both my wife's and my use.Signal is one of the few apps I truly trust & believe in. Let's make it normal to financially support such projects.#signal #opensource #freedom

@sybren @signalapp Is there any public data on how much Signal costs to operate? WhatsApp was making a profit on a $1/year subscription fee.

@sybren @david_chisnall @signalapp @Mer__edith I will say though that $50M to run a secure messenger service that can be banned from a country makes me seriously ask why we bother when there are alternatives that are nearly impossible to ban

@sybren @signalapp They apparently had 55 M users in 2023, so $1/user/year is probably close.
