In the wake of the Baraag outage and some data loss, I think the lesson that artists should take away is that upkeep is not a one-person job. If a site's backup fails, your artwork should not be gone for good. It should not be hard to find again. You should organize your damn work so that it's easy to find with a simple file search.I'm not the best at this, myself, but once I set aside time for it, replacing my missing files here was a breeze. Simple as searching for subjects in the filenames.

I don't have many answers, though.I expect that cloud storage is not an option for a lot of the art here, given their usual ToS and the likelihood that some of them scan uploaded files. I don't use them because I don't want a false positive for "illegal" content.I also don't know how some of you can do it if your only device is a tablet or even a phone. A PC with an actual file browser is so easy by contrast. File folders just make sense in a way that Procreate on the iPad never did.

But please, for whatever devices you use, look into ways to organize and preserve your own work. Back it up regularly onto more than one device, in more than one place if possible.Baraag is freely available, and it's an underdog. It's great to see it still up and running, but you can't count on it as the only place to find your own finished work. This was an aimless rant into the void. I'm not an expert on any of this, really. I welcome input and advice from actual experts lol.

@erect Mega, Proton Drive and Nextcloud are viable for storing files.Batch rename files in iPad is possible and its done via "Shortcuts". The macro itself can be found online, I got one from "MacObserver" posted by Andrew Orr.I highly recommend Pulover Macro Recorder (WIndows) and Keyboard Maestro or Keysmith (Mac) for creating a macro to handle all the file sorting and posting, its an absolute bless if you use multiple socials :blobcatcool:
