@BillBob @Bad_Banner i thought floorp was a boot manager that didn't help me gete back into my main computer, ffs, windows in so damned tarded, drive is absolutely drive in fine, passes every test, can access it anywhere else, but windows trying to boot off it, naw, after an update i told it a iddnt want and blocked it from downloading, it downloaded and installed it and rebooted without permission and screwed my system, even removing the update from recovery cmd, drive inacessable every time... uggg... hate microsoft so ddamned much, might have to bite the bulet and figure out how to properly mod games in linux, despite everybody having endless troubles with it

However it turned out to be an even bigger piece of shit code. Now you maybe need another special needs application to fix the fuck up of the first one, which will be free, but will trojan you into forever ads space on your desktop. Then you will be relegated into installing another crap deal of an application, which will remove the previous one but stick you up with less intrusive ads.Yeah, that's how windows was forever.

@white_male @BillBob @Bad_Banner no no, was trying to fix steam, adn anything else that used chromium embdded framework, being utterly broken, had tried everything, and was desperate, no matter what i did, it just loaded black windows you couldn't interact with, and everything else was breaking , system restore quit letting me make restore points, and tons of other issues, so, i finally let windows install some updates, and it broke everything seemingly beyond repair

@white_male @BillBob @Bad_Banner well, since the launch of win 11, it's been a ticking clock on how long i would be able to tolerate windows, might finally go back to nix full time, but i haven't daily drove a desktop linux in a bit, my servers are on the rpm side of the great divide, so looking at fedora on a separate drive and keep beating my head against the wall on this issue more in the future when i have more capacity for endless frustration

@white_male @BillBob @Bad_Banner it does, takes a lot of fiddling though, valve lightly locked down a lot of stuff to keep linux noobs from destroying their steamdeck OS, ya can get around it all, don't feel like doing that for a main machine.. ya can get steam and proton and all the goodies running fairly easily on most mainstream desktop distros these days...

@white_male @BillBob @Bad_Banner aye, i know, but down the line it makes a difference what roots your distro comes from when ya looking for oddball apps and such, having prebuilt packages, and discussions around how to get that build working is of huge value, and ubuntu accels in that regard, but have had more trouble with ubuntu in the past than any other distro,, fedora was always rock solid on desktop for me in the past, and my centos servers never stopped..
