Okay but...Did they just change the meaning of the word "sell/selling" at #Mozilla or what? Why would you remove this, even if "some jurisdictions define “sell” more broadly than most people would usually understand that word"It feels like vaguely saying "no, no, but yes"

@stux I’m sure it means they’re selling “anonymized data” about us.

@WillyECoyote69 I believe changes in the comp structure, also more "ai friendly" so i fear the worst

@stux I think it may be because, since some juristictions *do define "sell" more broadly, since that is the direction #Firefox wants to go undeniably (with ads), #Mozilla might relocate a part of their service, in other cities from other countries that use the more broad definition. Not sure if they can legally diversify data collection like this with multiple offices around the world for Firefox.

@stux I just installed Vivaldi and I think we'll keep that and throw out firefox. Their plans with AI + advertising doesn't sit well with us. And ever more data from users does not increase my "user experience" nor my happiness.Bye, Foxy, was nice with you, but your new intentions don't fit any longer.

@stux They clarified elsewhere, but the change is specifically because some jurisdictions define "sale' EXTREMELY broadly (e.g. any transfer of data outside your organization's infrastructure, for any "benefit," which could literally be something like analytics, a survey, etc) and they wanted to make the legal language much more clear. All the changes they've made haven't changed anything in actuality about their capabilities or stance, it's just been legal clarifications of existing policy.

@stux hmmmmmmmm. I'm curious about them. I've been a fan of Mozilla for a while and the about face is sudden and shocking. It seems like there is some nuance there, but isn't forthcoming.
