@evelyn@misskey.bubbletea.dev Mozilla has more than enough money to maintain a browser. But they waste their money on a lot of bullshit and they aren't in financial peril at the moment, they are just greedy.

@eliseo01@fe.disroot.org @radmin@limepeeps.perchinup.top I honestly trust the The Wikimedia Foundation a lot more than Mozilla.Sure, the Wikimedia Foundation doesn't have a 100% perfect track record either and they make mistakes too (especially the way they raise funds). But I still believe that most of the things Wikimedia does are good things for the world.Mozilla however seems to be more interested in all sorts of things that nobody wants to see from Mozilla like web3 projects, "AI" bubble project, "privacy friendly" advertising technology, or literally anything that has nothing to do with maintaining a goddamn browser.

@pernia@cum.salon I'm not of the opinion that everyone should always build everything for free. People need money, to live.I advocate for more people getting paid a professional salary to maintain a free software project, either commercially, through crowdfunding or government grants. It's always good thing. Also I'm not actually really an anti-capitalist. I just think our current form of capitalism is very broken because it allows unethical business practices and monopolies.

Yes, they face competition like any product. It's the ceo's job to make it successful in spite of the competition. If McDonald's markets share fell 90% over a decade just whining "but burger king! 😫" wouldn't earn Ronald an orders of magnitude raise from the board.

@SuperDicq everyone should build what they want without expecting anything in return. You do it because its useful or cool to you, and you share it if it could be useful to someone else. I agree with paying open source devs, have an org that provides hardware infra salaries etc. But "funding" shouldnt be the end goal, in fact it leads exactly to the point where many proyects are because they become driven by external influences from parties that dont share the vision of the proyect. Also what allowd unethical business is the government and the jews.Tangentially Related:Behind every gnu nigger theres a disenfranchised commie with nothing to add, who wants to masturbate about "computer purity" as if the Machine was some sort of virginal maiden, while using it exclusively to watch childporn. They are worthless bags of shit and deserve nothing
