No, Zelenskyy cannot be compared with these people. It's just strange to say the least that there's a long list of people, terrorist organizations, or nations the U.S. once supported so thoroughly, only to do a switcharoo the second they no longer served their purpose or wouldn't surrender their natural resources to the U.S.

@scruss @junglecat_rant what about it / please explain. I mean, I'm portraying that the United States will support countries until they stop serving their purpose, yet always justify support for some moral reason like democracy or freedom. While I do believe that supporting Ukraine does support those ideals, I find it worrying to see that support drop the moment Zelenskyy stands up for the right to self-determination of his country. That's what I'm criticizing. If that does not come across, I'm very much willing to talk about it or take further action, but that's the point I'm trying to make.

@ErikUden The USA actually did the very same thing in Vietnam. At the end of WWII, Ho Chi Minh asked the US for assistance to remove French colonial occupation, so the Vietnamese could have independence. The US refused. Guess how that turned out?

SERIOUSLY?We all saw the end of diplomacy shown by a bully as the head of a superpower.We also saw a president trying to stay calm in the interest of his country, for no avail.We all have to take a side now, wether it's the side of the victim or the enabler of an aggressor. @ErikUden @scruss @junglecat_rant @grootinside The way I understand it, you are trying to react to the US atrocity against Ukraine with sarcasm. What happens to me when I see your post is twofold:1. Subconsciously or not, an association is implied by lining up terrible criminals with the president of a nation under attack from an imperialist aggressor. That, to me, seems more than just tasteless.2. The wording “I’m sorry, Selenskyy” will be understood by many as a lead-in to “but get over it” which, in thr given context, is unbearable for those living in or feeling for the Ukraine.I see your intention to show the US’ long history of arbitrary hypocrisy and forging and dissolving alliances on a whim but I think both the words you chose and the image don’t really deliver the message appropriately.That’s, of course, just my 2¢.

@ErikUden Gotta find a source for this but iirc this also happened with Ho Chi Minh and the Vietminh/cong, the US basically went from supporting the Vietminh fighting for independence from colonist to fighting the communist vietcong even tho they were the same

@ErikUdenDas hinkt an so vielen Stellen. Die "heiligen" im Himmel, die alle viel gemeinsam haben, wovon ein Punkt (von ganz viele anderen) dass sie mal fallen gelassene Handlanger der USA waren. Was auch nicht auf die aktuelle Lage passt. Das Bild drückt ganz viel aus - aber nicht das, was du im Thread versuchst zu erklären.Besser im Bild gepasst hätten vielleicht: Bevölkerungen von Iran, Afghanistan, Chile, Syrien...
