10 years ago when I told people that systemd will make Linux systems more crappy, people called me crazy. The fact that macOS is more Unix-like than mainstream Linux distros makes you wonder how shitty other mainstream Linux software is.Please, for the love of god, call your congressm… I mean, email your mailing lists, tell these devs that they are not as smart as they think they are. systemd was a mistake, and they should know. Ask any sysadmin who runs a HPC cluster.

Most of us "users" rely on the upstream.I was around for the first release of Devuan, I even installed it and it was good. But I had to stick with Ubuntu because I just refurbished some HP servers I cannot even remember the Generation, but MAAS was also so cool.I have been using Debian as long as I remember, and I started with Slackware on 5" floppies in 1993.You need to communicate in a way where users understand your concerns. Today I build YunoHost servers on Debian, rooted on BIND servers on Debian, MTAs on Debian, all as lean and mean as possible. I build some of this on ProxMox - a LOT of Debian-based 512 MB 10GB LXC containers, a LOT of upstream.This is all I understand.

Its only dbus, the rest maybe turned off at start if cannot just entirely removed. At my use-case there is absolutely nothing wrong with the init system used, of even with the default compiled kernel.I honestly do not understand the "A messaging system that’s not federated" item - something like RabbitMQ, something non-routed like cjdns, something like I2P, Zot/ZAP?So you get no support from me one way or the other. Your bone with tis over tat is really insignificant, considering that all you need to do is build your own.I do not have that choice, I am 100% limited by the upstream.
