For some silly reason I own two laptops, one with high performance but no proper battery (MSI GF66, 12th gen), the other one with proper battery but lower performance (Lenovo Ideapad 15ARE05).Currently considering selling both + a PS3 Fat I still have lying around to get a Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 15. 🤔 Its GPU can't compete with the Laptop 3050 Ti, the package is way nicer though. The Slimbook Executive 16 would be nice as hell, unfortunately definitely over budget.#computer #laptop

@Natanox Is the GF66 battery so bad? I played a little with it (it was a friend's PC) and I liked the performance with some fairly basic games. But of course I had not the time to test how long it would last. All summed up, is it a good product or not? I'm asking because said friend is selling it and so maybe... just maybe...

@bitzero Now my Tumbleweed isn't perfectly set up for battery saving, but about 80 minutes (without heavy tasks) is still awful. It's also a rather heavy machine, so sitting with it on my lap for a prolonged time is rather uncomfortable (cable + weight + heat). Also it's always a gamble to plug it into the power socket on trains too which are rated for 90-120W.It really depends what you want do to with it though. Plugged in and on a desk it definitely got a good price-to-performance ratio.

@Natanox Hmmm. 80 minutes is really bad, yes. Even if my idea is using it as a dev workstation, so with no heavy-heavy tasks. Sadness... I kinda liked it.

@bitzero According to this article the laptop is supposed to run over 4 hours while watching 4K video. I assume my settings are just bad + it's used. Also Linux is known to not be as optimized for laptops as other operating systems, that incentive is rather new.So your mileage may vary.https://www.pcworld.com/article/1529835/msi-katana-gf66-review.html

@Natanox @bitzero Unless it's using HW decode (which it probably isn't) you won't hit anywhere near that number. Mind you, even Windows isn't that great at this either. With some recent CPUs CPU decode is really quite efficient.
