I've seen two AI systems communicate with one another, realize they're both AI, then switch to their own, incomprehensible language for further communication. It's called “GibberLink” and isn't implemented into any regular AI models, it's a FOSS program designed for a hackathon. However, the fact this is just something that exists now is scary.

@ErikUden where did you saw it? Can they walk to catch us? Do they even need to walk to catch us? So many questions.

@ErikUden I saw a video about that. Laptop and phone, AI is calling AI for travel arrangements. Scary indeed.

@ErikUden the scary part is that powerful algorithms are being developed, controlled, marketed and applied by people that are out of control, cornered the financial system, have a vast fraction of the population hostage with no digital choice, have captured regulators and politicians and have a track record of destroying people's privacy with impunity. No I am not scared by some stupid numerical algorithm. But I am scared of our broken social "algorithms" that empower evil behavior in humans.

@ErikUden Are you equally afraid of analogue modems and fax machines? GibberLink is no more incomprehensible than what those used to send: It's just a digital protocol designed (by humans!) for efficient machine-to-machine communication over lines that were originally meant for human speech audio. You don't need an AI (nor need you be one) to decode it or output it, you just need software (which could be non-AI) that implements the protocol.See https://github.com/PennyroyalTea/gibberlink

@ErikUdenIt sounds like you have also seen that viral video. I haven't seen any sources below the video and thought maybe it was a fake. To you have any sources.

@ErikUden its not scary. Oh, wow, a piece of software detects that the same software is running on the other end via audio and then communicates over audio signals. We already had that, it were Acoustic coupler modems.

@ErikUden It is Just stupid in my eyes. Instead of having a useful API we put a stupid AI layer over IT so another stupid AI layer can use a API Middleware To Talk to IT ....

@ErikUden How do they both realize the other end is an AI? Asking for a human.

@ErikUden well, autoencoders is not a new thing at all; thus "AI systems" optimizing their communication alphabet to get across maximum mutual information is established technology.you make it sound like LLMs specifically did that, and I'd have heavy doubts about that; there is nothing in these systems that would optomize to that end. Therefore: [[citation needed]]
