This Framework desktop is certainly a bit of a weird device, it's not entirely clear to me who it's actually being marketed towards. I don't think it's bad but I'm just kind of confused.

@BrodieOnLinux I have been both looking for a sff new PC, and impressed with that new AMD chip. Not having to squeeze in a giant gpu and still get decent graphics has good potential. Going with an ITX sized motherboard opens up other case options.

@keyboardg Technically I think it's really cool, I just not sure who would buy it

@BrodieOnLinux @keyboardg It's pretty clearly aimed at the Steam Machine / AI dev market, doncha know? /sSeriously though, it feels like an AMD "proof product" being sold by Framework. In other words, it exists for AMD to drive some future goal (in this case, more ROCm usage for AI/ML) rather than to be successful for Framework's goals.

@BrodieOnLinux An extensible Mac Studio clone at less than half the price that can run Windows and Linux out of the box seems like a no-brainer to me. Several of my former work colleagues have been looking for exactly this to replace their PCs at home.

@BrodieOnLinuxDamn, I missed my 4:25 alarm to watch the livestream. Please tell me if they've finally released a 3in1 chassy.

@BrodieOnLinux agreed. This felt like a miss for me.I just hope they didn't gamble too many resources in bringing this product to live.

@BrodieOnLinux Certainly off brand. Desktops are already modular and upgradeable, laptops aren't. Hence thats why Framework made laptops modular and upgradeable. Weird.
