@BrodieOnLinux He's got some really good points. Furthermore the url sanity give some hints about the website underlying code health.

@BrodieOnLinux He seems to be too rigid, and the final advice with date-based URLs is a bit questionable. Also, one should read https://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI (yes, that's the same article and same URI from 1998). Helped me a lot organizing my folders on my hard disc as well.

@BrodieOnLinux Bit of a mixed bag, some standard practice but other stuff is subjective personal preference. But then it is an option piece.Personally no problem with www if you ever want to run other types of server on your domain. No issue with .html if retrieving an actual file with that name, apart from index.html or index.php where your DirectoryIndex should be taking care of it.IDs ok if for accessing a database record. URLs should not change just because a post title was edited.

@BrodieOnLinux Good points but seems like most of this is a rant about the WordPress permalink options.

@BrodieOnLinux I disagree with leaving out .html because that makes the exact location of the file a bit vague, who knows what file the webserver could serve you.

@deadvey You don't know what the file is serving you with .html?

@BrodieOnLinux No, when there is no extension and the file is within a directory, you don't know what kind of file it will be. The webserver could be serving index.html or index.php etc
