@mariob Just the fact that you use a smartphone makes most, if not all, security theater meaningless anyway. Switch to a dumbphone and move your secret stuff to your laptop and your own cloud. Only that way, will you be moderately safe and private.

@h4890 a linux phone is solving the problem. Also a PC does not give you any safeguards if is connected to the internet. Most PCs are x86 which are virused at the firmware level (AMD PSP, Intel IME). Your only option is a PC on RISC-V architecture which are starting to come up. I do better without a cloud or any accounts at all.

@mariob A linux phone might make it better. A PC can be made perfectly safe connecting to the internet. Run linux on it and rejoice. Firmware level threats are more or less nonsense for regular users. A phone, even a linux smart phone, is way worse, since it depends on the phone network, so you have no choice but to give away your location if you want to call. The only way is to go simless and call via wifi.

@dick @h4890 even in beta form, I was amazed how a Linux OS behaves on my phone. It beats my degoogled OS on many plans.
